Happy New Year! Here's what's coming in 2026.
Hello, all. I hope 2026 is treating you well so far.
I welcomed the new year at Mad Swede Brew Hall, the venue where I filmed my special, and where I have performed most often over the five years or so that I have been doing standup. It was their going-out-of-business party, and it was a bittersweet celebration with many of the people who made the place so special. I got a lot of footage, and at some point I am going to try to cut it together into a mini-documentary.
Some of you commented on my last Memoirs of a Rideshare Driver post, which I kind of framed as the end of the project. I have other rideshare stories, and I’m still working on getting them all written and polished. In 2025, I made it a goal to publish new installments every week, and I succeeded in that goal, but it’s a lot of work to keep it up with that level of frequency. In 2026, I am thinking of making them a monthly thing instead of a weekly one. At some point when I feel like the collection is “complete”, I am also considering self-publishing all of them in a book.
My standup special is doing better than I expected on YouTube, with over 24,000 views in the first two weeks. Over the coming months, I’ll be posting a lot of segments from the special on Instagram and YouTube shorts, trying to gain a larger online following and hopefully making it easier to get booked in areas where I have never performed before. While I’ve occasionally traveled for shows, I still haven’t really done a proper “tour”, and I wouldn’t mind giving that a shot if I can work out the logistics.
I also recently started digging into a sketch comedy project, originally called Greg and Other Gregs, that I filmed in 2019 but never finished editing. It was a series brief skits (mostly in the 1-2 minute range) that I wrote and filmed by myself, playing every character. I wrote 30 of them, but only filmed 10 before a camera issue put the project on hold. By the time the camera was fixed, I had moved, and the project fell by the wayside. Recently I’ve started editing the ones that I filmed, and some of them seem funny enough to be worth putting on YouTube. If they are well-received, maybe I could even make some new sketches. I’ll play that by ear.
Finally, I should have a fiction project coming this year that I will announce at a later date, and a movie project that has been “three months” away from getting made for five years now. With some luck, maybe this will finally be the year that it takes shape.
All of that is to say, I am, as usual, working on a lot of projects and look forward to unveiling them as they become ready. If you are a subscriber, you’ll always be the first to find out about them.
